How To Reinstate My Cancelled SRD SASSA Application – Complete Guide. The Sassa grant fund has been a lifesaver for millions of needy South African citizens who are in need of financial support. However, the grant fund has suffered considerable challenges in recent years, including budget cuts, administrative issues, and payment processing delays. As a result, many recipients have been left without the assistance they require.

Fortunately, the South African government has recognized the importance of the SASSA grant fund and has taken steps to reinstate it. This includes increasing the budget for the grant fund and implementing reforms to improve its efficiency and effectiveness. Moreover, if your Sassa fund application is rejected then you can re-apply for it.

In this article, I will guide you on the step-by-step process to reinstate your cancelled SASSA application and the eligibility requirements you need to qualify before making the request.

Note: If SASSA rejects your application, then you will need to submit the reapplication or appeal, depending on the situation. The reinstatement process is only applicable to the R370 grant recipient who cancelled their application themselves due to the improvements in their circumstances.

Eligibility Requirements Before Reinstating Your Cancelled Grant

You must fulfill the below eligibility criteria before reinstating your R350 grant. Otherwise, your request will be rejected:

  • You must be a South African citizen, asylum seeker, recognized refugee, or special permit holder.
  • You must be living within South Africa.
  • Your age must be between 18 to 60 years.
  • You should not be earning more than R624 per month and have insufficient assets to pass the means test criteria.
  • You must not be receiving any other government social grant, UIF (Unemployment Insurance Fund), or NSFAS (National Student Financial Aids) funds.
  • You must not refuse any job or education offer without any reason.
  • You must be unemployed, do not have any source of income, and struggle to fulfill your family’s basic needs.
  • You must not be caring in any state institution.

If you are fulfilling these above requirements, then you can easily be qualified for the SASSA grant.

Step By Step Process to Reinstate your Cancelled SRD Grant

You can reinstate your SRD grant either online or by visiting the SASSA office.

I prefer to do it online as it can be done within a few minutes just by following the simple steps without going anywhere. You may have different preferences, so I will outline both methods in detail, and you can use anyone that makes you feel comfortable.

Reinstating Cancelled Application Online Via SASSA Website

Before starting the reinstatement process online, please make sure you have your South African ID card document and the phone number you used for initial application is active.

Please follow the below steps to reinstate your application online:

Step 1: Visit the SASSA Web Portal

First of all, you have to visit the SASSA website reinstate page via this link: https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/reinstate.

Step 2: Provide Your ID & Phone Number

On this page, provide your South African ID number and the phone number you used to apply for your SASSA grant.

Step 3: Click the “send pin”

After that, recheck if you typed the correct information, and if everything is perfect, click the “send pin” button.

Step 4: Verify the OTP

Now, you will receive an OTP code on your registered phone number. Provide that code on the website screen and click the “verify” button.

Step 5: Provide the Reason

Once the OTP is verified, you will be redirected to another page. Here, you will need to select the reason for reinstatement of your grant. You will need to select from the below three options:

  • Cancelled in error
  • No longer have income
  • Other

Step 6: Confirm Your Reinstatement Request

After selecting the appropriate reason, a pop-up will appear with a message: “Are you sure you want to reinstate the grant?”. Click “Yes” to proceed with your reinstatement request.

That’s all it takes to apply online to restore your R370 grant. You have successfully submitted the request and now need to wait for the SASSA decision.

Reinstatement Of R370 Grant By Visiting the SASSA Office

If you prefer human interaction over an online application, then this method is for you. Please follow the below steps to reinstate your cancelled R370 grant via the SASSA office:

Step 1: Find Nearest SASSA office & their Timings

First of all, you need to find your nearest SASSA office. You can find your nearest office by searching “SASSA office near me” on Google. After finding the office, confirm their opening hours. Most SASSA offices operate from Monday to Friday between 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, but you still need to confirm the timing of the office you are visiting.

Step 2: Gather Your Documents

Before visiting the office, you need to gather your important documents, including:

  • ID Card
  • Proof of residence (utility bills or any other document that proves your current address)
  • Bank Statement (if you have)
  • Any other supported document that can prove your financial condition (only if you have one)

Step 3: Visit the Office

Now, visit the office during their working hours. You may face long queues in the office and need to wait in the queue before your turn.

Step 4: Verify Your Identity & Submit Request

Once your turn comes, ask the SASSA official that you are here to reinstate your SRD application. The representative will ask you for your ID card and other documents to verify your identity. Provide them with the documents. After the verification, they will submit your application for reinstatement.

That’s it. You have successfully submitted your SRD grant reinstatement request. The only downside is that you may have to wait for hours outside the SASSA office as there are always long queues.

I will suggest doing it online if possible. It will save you a lot of time and effort.

How Long Will SASSA Take to Approve My Reinstatement Request?

Mostly, SASSA takes between 7 and 14 days to review your reinstatement application. Still, it may also take up to 90 days, depending on their workload and the amount of applications they are receiving.

Once SASSA reviewed your request and made the decision, they will send you the notification via SMS. If it is approved, you will start receiving the payments from the date you initiate your grant restoration request. If rejected, they will also notify you with a reason why they rejected your grant reinstatement request.

What If my Grant Reinstatement Request is Rejected?

If SASSA declines your grant reinstatement request, they will also send you a written notice explaining why they rejected your application. The notice will also include the details of what to do next and if you are allowed to appeal your rejection.
