How to Activate Your New SASSA Card. Either you ordered your new SASSA card for the first time or got the replacement by renewing your SASSA card; you need to activate it to be able to withdraw your grant money from it.
In this article, I will explain the step-by-step procedure for activating your SASSA card and then how to withdraw your grant money from an ATM using it. So, let’s proceed.
Checking Your Card Details Before Activation
Once you apply for a new SASSA card or renew your existing card, it takes 2 to 3 weeks to deliver. Once you receive your card, you need to make sure that the details on the card are printed correctly. Check the following information on the card to ensure they are correct:
If you find any error or mistake in card details, then you need to report it immediately to SASSA before activating it. If the details are correct, then move further towards activating it.
Step-by-Step Guide to Activate Your SASSA Card
After you verify the details on the card are printed correctly, then follow these steps to activate your card:
Step 1: Visit the Postbank Affiliated ATM Branch
First, you need to visit any ATM branch affiliated with Postbank. You can easily identify these branches by the presence of a VISA or Mastercard logo. Your SASSA card is accepted at all ATMs displaying these logos.
Step 2: Insert Your Card into the ATM
Once you are at an ATM, insert your card into the ATM machine and wait for processing. Processing can take more time than usual. This is because the card is new and was used for the first time, so the ATM takes time to fetch its data.
Step 3: Set Your Card PIN
After the processing, the ATM screen will show a button titled “Set PIN“. Click on it to set the PIN for your SASSA card. You will then be redirected to another screen to set up your PIN. Enter the 4-digit PIN you want to use and click on the “Confirm” button.
Step 4: Wait for the Confirmation Message
After you confirm your PIN, you will receive a confirmation message about the new PIN on your SASSA registered phone number. Once you receive the message, it means your PIN has been set up successfully.
Step 5: Wait for Card Activation
After you set the PIN, you will need to wait for the card to be activated. Usually, it takes 1 hour, but sometimes it can also take up to 24 hours, so please be patient until the card is completely activated.
That’s it! Just follow these steps carefully, and your card will be activated successfully.
How to Withdraw the Cash Using SASSA Card
After you activate your card, you will probably be thinking about how to withdraw your grant money. Well, you have not to be worried at all as I am also going to provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to withdraw your money using your SASSA card:
Step 1: Visit the ATM Branch
You know this step already, as I explained in the card activation guide above. So, you need to go to the ATM branch that has a Visa or Master Card logo. ATMs can be found near the bank, retailers, shopping malls, or public places.
Step 2: Insert Your Card into ATM
Once you are in an ATM, insert your SASSA card into the ATM machine and wait until it asks for your PIN code. It takes only a couple of seconds.
Step 3: Enter Your Pin
Now, enter your four-digit card PIN and press the “Enter” or “OK” button. Please make sure you provide the correct PIN. Multiple attempts with incorrect PINs can block your card.
Step 4: Select the Withdraw From Options
After the ATM verifies your PIN, you will be presented with a couple of options on the screen, including Balance Enquiry, Cash Withdrawal Mini Statement, etc. Select the “Cash Withdrawal” option from them.
Step 5: Enter the Amount You Want to Withdraw
Next, you will be prompted to enter the amount you want to withdraw. Enter the amount you want to withdraw and press the “Enter” button.
Step 6: Collect Your Cash and Card
Now, the ATM will first eject your card and then your cash. Collect both your card and cash. Please ensure you collect all money dispensed. The transaction receipt will also be printed, displaying your current transaction details and remaining account balance.
So, you see how easy it was to withdraw your SASSA grant amount from the amount. Now, you are good to go and can withdraw your grant from the ATM.
