MUT NSFAS Lists Approved Students 2024/2025 – Mangosuthu University of Technology. Students who have been approved for NSFAS funding will be cleared for registration once the University receives a list of approved students from NSFAS. First time entry (FTE) students will be verified against the NSFAS system and will follow the process for registration and if their application status is “waiting for registration” will be cleared for registration.

Discounts do not apply to NSFAS and Sponsored/Bursary Funded students as the aim of the discounts is to assist privately funded students with their fee commitments.
Late registration penalties for NSFAS funded students will be for the students own account as NSFAS will not fund any late registration penalties.
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is a South African government student financial aid scheme which provides financial aid to undergraduate students to help pay for the cost of their tertiary education after finishing high school.
It is funded by the Department of Higher Education and Training.
The program also manages bursaries such as the Funza Lushaka Teacher Bursary (for students pursuing a teaching qualification), DHET Disability Bursary and other bursaries from the Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs)
NSFAS is a bursary scheme funded by the Department of Higher Education and Training for those who do not have the financial means to fund their studies and cannot access bank funding, study loans or bursaries.
Extra support is provided to students living with disabilities, such as:
- Medical assessments: The assessment is limited to one assessment for the duration of the qualification and on request by the Disability Unit/Student Support.
- Assistive devices: Limited to one assistive device for the duration of the qualification.
- Human support: To cover for the cost of human support such as a caregiver, guide-dog, scribe, tutor, or sign language interpreter.
Who qualifies for NSFAS funding?
You qualify for a NSFAS bursary if you are a South African citizen who plans to study at a public university or TVET college and you fall within one or more of the below categories:
- All SASSA grant recipients.
- Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per year.
- Persons with disabilities combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per year.
- Students who started studying before 2018 and whose household income is not more than R122 000 per year.
